9 important Narcissistic Symptoms| Do you have any of them?

NPD (Narcissistic Personality Disorder) is a personality disorder in which the person feels self-important and craves constant validation. Their feelings of superiority often hint at a deeper problem.

As their need for validation often comes from a place of insecurity and instability, rather than genuine self-love, which they may not be aware of.

So what causes NPD?

While the cause of NPD is unknown, researchers believe that it has to do with a combination of genetic and environmental factors. It’s believed that six percent of people have this disorder, and that men have a higher chance of this disorder than women.

Some believe that NPD is developed to cope with trauma and feelings of inadequacy. Others believe it may be learnt in early childhood from dealing with anything from abuse to excessive pamperingThere’s even a debate as to how much of the disorder is passed down from parent to child, versus from environmental factors that lead to the child acquiring the disorder.

Interacting with an NPD sufferer can be confusing, frustrating and even hurtful. The NPD Individual will often overlook or ignore many of these traits that make them unlikable. Here are some signs, which may be a result of narcissism.

1. Instead of listening they're wrapped up in their own opinion.

Ever felt looked down upon or ignored, even though that person was in no position to do so?

You might have encountered a sign of narcissism. The perception leads them to believe what you have to say isn't important, so they blank it out. Rather than actively listening and integrating in discussions, they treat all conversations as a platform to present their ideas only, which they think are the only ideas worth listening to.

2. They constantly need to be admired.

If you've seen a narcissist, maybe you've seen that they almost swagger. Oozing conceit and arrogance with every breath. They may look like they possess tremendous confidence, but it's not enough. They need constant admiration. The delusion of always being entitled to admiration is why people around them often find themselves emotionally drained. To them there's no greater rush than being put on a pedestal and worshipped by their fans and followers.

3. They do not take any criticism well.

Have you ever commented on something someone said and they lashed out at you?

Maybe the reaction was more hostile than expected. They think they're superior to others around them and believed themselves to be infallible. They react poorly, maybe yelling, throwing a tantrum, or with another unreasonable response, when they perceive what you've said might be criticism.

4. They exploit others without guilt or shame.

Narcissism and empathy don't go hand in hand. Narcissists are unwilling to see the world from the perspective of others. As a result, they're able to exploit others without any feeling of remorse. They can manipulate people to fulfill their own needs without regard for the consequences that their actions may have on others.

5. They belittle others.

The narcissist thinks they're the best and brightest so sing proof that dictates otherwise, like someone who is more talented than they are at a particular activity, is a rude shock. The response is to make sure that the person is below them where the narcissists feels most others belong. They try to be dismissive about the other person to show that they don't really even care about them. And if that doesn't work, they resort to personal attacks. They belittle and intimidate the other person in order to assert the superiority over them.

6. They see themselves as more attractive than they really are.

Despite the fact that everyone should feel attractive, there's a fine line between a healthy self-image and being delusional. This line is often crossed by narcissists, who believe that they are exceptionally attractive, regardless of having any imperfections. The narcissist uses this perceived superior attractiveness to justify to themselves why they're too good for everyone.

7. They gaslight those who are dear to them.

Have you ever noticed feeling that you can't remember anything correctly around a specific person?

When you're with that person, do you feel a little like you've lost your mind? That's due to gaslighting. A tactic narcissists use in order to manipulate and gain power and control over those around them.

Gaslighting is frightening, because it's insidious. The manipulation is lengthy and gradual, so the victim doesn't notice it happening, like when you grow taller. The end result of the long-term gradual manipulation is the devastation of the victim. It can reduce the most healthy confident person down to being a shaking paranoid shell. The victim no longer believes they know what's real, so they adopt the reality of the abuser, giving the narcissus full control.

8. They tend to cheat in relationships.

Narcissists feel their treasures that are too good for anyone. Bring this attitude into a relationship and you have lightning waiting to strike. Cheating is often a way for narcissists to build their ego.

Author Katarina Valentini at Psychology Today says that narcissists are incapable of forming any kind of normal relationship and will wreak havoc in partners lives. Betraying someone and leaving them in great grief gives a narcissist a rush of power.

9.  They put some people on pedestals.

Our last sign seems oddly contradictory to the other signs, but it is very logical and here's why: Narcissists believe that they have to have perfection in everything, including people they associate with.

A narcissist will often cozy up to someone higher in status, believing that the perfection will somewhat rub onto them. For example: That suck-up in class who always gets the lecturers full attention, or the brown-noser at work who barely does any work, but gets promotions.

Do you or does anyone you know show these signs of narcissism?

You should never ignore these 10 signs of Vitamin B12 Deficiency

Do you know how much vitamin B12 you consume every day?

Do you even know if you're getting enough?

B12 is an essential nutrient that our bodies need to be healthy. It is responsible for making red blood cells, nerves, and DNA, in addition to carrying out other essential functions.

The thing is, we can't produce B12 on our own. Like most other vitamins, we need to consume it.

On average, a healthy adult must ingest at least 2.4 micrograms of B12 each day. However, some people don't consume enough B12 rich food or supplements. And others are unable to absorb enough B12, no matter how much they take in. The result is that many people develop B12 deficiencies - and you might be one of them. Plus, as you grow older, you'll become progressively susceptible to vitamin deficiencies.

Experts believe that 20% of people over 50 experience low levels of vitamin B12. But most people overlook the signs, because the symptoms are varied and common among other conditions as well.

If you want to catch and remedy a potential vitamin B12 deficiency, be sure not to ignore the following signs:

Weakness And Fatigue

Among the most common symptoms of a vitamin B12 deficiency is feeling tired and weak. Vitamin B12 is necessary for the production of red blood cells, and not getting enough of it hinders the transportation of oxygen throughout the body.

When your oxygen transportation system is weakened in this way, it’s most often caused by the autoimmune condition called Pernicious AnemiaThis form of anemia occurs when the body fails to produce enough Intrinsic Factor - a glycoprotein required by the intestines to absorb vitamin B12.

Moodiness

Vitamin B12 is needed for essential functions in the body and the mind. It is necessary for your mental health, and vitamin B12 deficiencies are linked to mood disorders, such as anxiety and depressionThis is because B12 is needed to produce neurotransmitters like serotonin and dopamine, which are responsible for mood regulation and proper brain function. When levels of these chemicals are low, depression is likely.

Vitamin B12 deficiencies are also proven to reduce oxygen in the brain. When the neurons don't have enough oxygen, they can't transmit signals to the rest of the body and this can result in mood changes.

Dizziness and Shortness of Breath

Frequent vertigo or dizziness are also symptoms of a vitamin B12 deficiency. These signs occur most often when suddenly changing positions like standing up after sitting or lying down or immediately after strenuous physical activity.

Again, this happens because the body is short of red blood cells. And without adequate oxygen, the cells in your body cannot perform their functions effectively.

Pins, Needles, and Numbness

Nerve damage is the most serious side effect of B12 deficiencies. Over time, a lack of B12 causes reduced production of Myelin, which makes up the protective sheath around the nerves.

With exposed or weak nerves, the body may experience Paresthesia -which is a pins and needles sensation throughout the arms, hands, legs, or feet. Numbness or limbs that fall asleep is also common. These symptoms of vitamin B12 deficiency typically occur in conjunction with Anemia.

Mobility Issues

If a vitamin B12 deficiency goes untreated, the nerves may deteriorate to a point where your mobility is challenged. Your ability to move, or your walking style may change, and you may find that your balance and coordination are off. This symptom is most common in the elderly, and it raises concerns about accidents such as falling. Although people over the age of 60 are more likely to experience a B12 deficiency, young people with a severe deficiency may also show these symptoms.

Paleness or Jaundice

People with a vitamin B12 deficiency often appear pale or even slightly yellow. Jaundice is a condition that affects the skin and eyes, producing this yellow tinge. Megaloblastic Anemia causes the red blood cells in the bone marrow to become enlarged and fragile. As a result, they can't pass out of the marrow, and into circulation. So, this entire supply of red blood cells becomes useless to the body.

The subsequent shortage causes paleness. And because these cells are so fragile, they often break down and create an excess of Bilirubin - the yellow chemical compound responsible for jaundice.

Blurry Vision

If you have a B12 deficiency, you might also experience blurry or distorted vision. This symptom is more common when the deficiency progresses into nerve damage. Once it affects the optic nerve which is responsible for connecting the eyes to the brain -signals cannot travel effectively, and disturbed vision occurs. Although some overlook vision deterioration as a part of life, it may be the result of a preventable vitamin B12 deficiency.

Skin, Hair, And Nail Problems

Vitamin B12 is also essential for healthy skin, hair, and nails and if your B12 intake is low, you might notice their decline. One possible symptom is Vitiligo -a pigmentation disorder that causes white patches on the skin.

Other skin issues include acne, dermatitis, hyperpigmentation, and skin lesions. Low levels of B12 can also cause hair loss, prematurely gray hair, and brown-gray nails.

Swollen, Red Tongue

Glossitis is an early sign of a vitamin B12 deficiency, and it causes inflammation of the tongue. You may notice lesions, redness, swelling, or pain. Once your tongue changes its shape and color, you may struggle to speak and eat.

In addition to these unpleasant symptoms, a vitamin B12 deficiency can also cause other oral issues - such as mouth ulcers, pins and needles in the tongue, and a burning or itching sensation around the mouth.

Digestive Issues and a Decreased Appetite

Low levels of B12 can also be linked to problems in the digestive tract. Symptoms include nausea, vomiting, heartburn, abdominal bloating, gas, constipation, and diarrhea. With an upset stomach or recurring diarrhea, you might feel weak and lose your appetite. In the long run, this could lead to unhealthy weight loss.

When you talk to an experienced physician, they may be able to notice symptoms of a vitamin B12 deficiency straightaway. However, you'll need a blood test to confirm and accurately diagnose the condition.

Talking to your doctor about your B12 levels is a good idea, if you experience any of the symptoms mentioned. And it's an even better idea if your lifestyle makes you prone to vitamin deficiencies for example, if you eat a vegan or vegetarian diet, underwent weight-loss surgery, or live with a condition that interferes with nutrient absorption - like colitis, Crohn's, IBS, or Celiac disease.

Early detection and treatment are essential when it comes to vitamin B12 deficiencies. Untreated, they can have severe consequences like neurological problems, blood diseases, and physical impairments.

Cat Eyes Glow in the Dark: Why?

It can be terrifying to wake up in the middle of the night to a pair of glowing eyes staring at you from the darkness, only to realize that it’s just your cat Or is it.....?😲

Lots of animals, including alligators, fruit bats, and dogs, all have a shiny structure
in their eyes that gives them better night vision, which also causes this creepy glow.

The layer of tissue at the back of your eyes is called the retina, and it’s made up of special light-sensitive cells. Light that hits those cells gets turned into an electrical signal that’s sent along the optic nerve, which sits behind the retina. That signal travels all the way to the brain. And light that misses those cells isn’t turned into a signal, so your brain can’t detect it.

Many species across the Animal kingdom have this same basic eye structure, from reptiles to birds to other mammals like cats.

One way animals have evolved to see better is to have more of those light-sensitive cells in each eye. Humans, for example, have over 95 million of them per retina.

But a lot of animals—especially nocturnal animals whose eyes have to work well at night— have another way of detecting more light. They have a structure called the tapetum lucidum, which is Latin for “bright tapestry.” It’s a layer of tissue that sits behind the retina and acts like a mirror. The tapetum lucidum reflects light that gets through the retina back at those light-sensitive cells, giving them another chance to detect it. But some of the reflected light flies back out the animals’ pupils, which is what makes it seem like their eyes are glowing.

The color of that glow, also called eyeshine, depends on what the tapetum lucidum is made of. And different critters have different highly ordered molecules or fibers that create a reflective surface.

  • Some fish eyes use guanine—one of the chemical building blocks in DNA—and have white eyeshine.
  • Sheep have collagen, which also provides structure to muscles and skin in lots of animals, which leads to a blue or green glow.
  • And cats use riboflavin and zinc, among other molecules. And the amount of zinc does a lot to determine how yellow or green or even blue their eyeshine is.

So your kitty’s eyes aren’t actually like little flashlights; they’re just reflecting some of the ambient light in your room.

But if they start glowing red and shooting laser beams, you should probably run...!! 👻

Dimples: What Causes Them?

Dimples!

We tend to think of them as cute or attractiveBut considering how coveted these facial features can be, we know surprisingly little about them.

Cheek dimples aren’t exactly at the top of many researchers’ priority lists, which I suppose is how it should be. But we’re not even quite sure what they are. And if you think they’re inherited, well, yes but not necessarily the way you think. We do know that they’re fairly common.

Studies in different populations have found that anywhere between 10 and 40 percent of people have dimples. As for why you, your friend, or yes,  many celebrities, have these adorable features, anatomical studies suggest that it has to do with a variation in a muscle of the face called the zygomaticus major.

This funny-sounding muscle is indeed that- it helps us smile!

It connects the corners of the mouth to the cheek bones just under the eyes. When we’re feeling happy, or just faking it, that muscle contracts, pulling the corners of the mouth upward into a big grin

But sometimes, instead of staying as one, continuous muscle all the way from the cheekbone, the zygomaticus major splits into two, and attaches in two spots, with one part connecting to the usual spot just above the corner of the mouth, and the other attaching slightly below. This variation is called a bifid.

When this happens, the lower section also sometimes connects to some cheek skin. So, when bifid zygomaticus major muscles contract, it’s thought that the lower part pulls on that skin, causing it to buckle, creating a dimple.

But it’s hard to say for sure that the bifid muscle is the reason people have dimplesbecause the anatomical studies that have looked into this question were done on cadaversand they’re not exactly doing a bunch of smiling at that point.

Are Dimples Inherited? 👪

Dimples are also somewhat confusing when it comes to how they might be inherited. They’re often touted as an example of a dominant genetic trait, where a child has a 50 to 100% chance of having dimples if one of their parents does. Sometimes, dimples are even used in classrooms when teaching about genetics. Few studies have actually been done on the heritability of dimples.

One study, done in Russia in the 1990s, looked at 75 families for a variety of physical traits, including the presence of cheek dimples. The results suggested that dimples were a dominant trait controlled by one gene, but researchers also noticed that inheritance changed depending on whether a person was male or female.

More recently, the gene-profiling company ''23andMe'' did its own investigation into dimple genetics, which found that dimples were associated with 9 different genes. Complicating matters even more is the fact that:

Dimples can come and go over time...!!

In some people, dimples only show up in adulthood. While in others, those cute divots only show up when they’re children. So, dimples could still be largely genetic, but these patterns suggest multiple genes could be involved, and that environmental factors matter, too.

For instance, whether dimples show up could be related to the amount of fat in the face,
or the elasticity in the skin, both of which could be tied to age or gender. And of course, these days not everyone who you think has dimples has them naturally.

What is Dimple Piercing?

Some people get dimple piercings to get that look, or resort to cosmetic surgery. Even though we don’t have a great sense of what a natural dimple is, plastic surgeons have figured out how to make them in the operating room.

One procedure attaches skin to the underlying muscles. But instead of using zygomaticus major, surgeons tether skin to the buccinator muscle, which is one of the key cheek muscles that helps you chew food.

Although, this technique isn’t always permanent, and the dimples can fade. But if you really want the dimples, at least you’ve got options...!!

KEEP SMILING, EVEN IF YOU DON'T  HAVE DIMPLES..!!

10 Amazing Brain Facts that Prove that You Can Do Anything...!!

Did you know that your brain can work wonders. It not only controls all of your body processes but it also helps you make even your wildest dreams come true. You can improve your life by simply changing your thoughts to understand how it works.

Read on to learn 10 amazing facts about the human brain that will show you that you can do anything.

Number 10:

Your brain doesn't realize the difference between reality and imagination. Doesn't it sound intriguing? Your brain can't tell fact from fantasy because it reacts to each of your thoughts that's why people who look at the world through rose-tinted glasses feel happier. They think our planet is a great place to live and their brain makes them believe in it no matter what circumstances surround them. This also explains why people get addicted to video games or feel scared after watching a horror movie and yeah that's why your body accepts placebos as real medicine.

Number 9:

Mental work doesn't tire your brain. You normally feel tired mainly because of your emotions. The composition of blood flowing through your brain during its active work remains unchanged. Although blood from the veins of a person who has worked all day changes considerably.

Number 8:

Most of the time your brain works automatically. More than half of your thoughts are from yesterday. Most of the time you scroll past the same worries plans and phrases as you did a week ago. That's why it's so difficult for pessimists to change their worldview. They need to literally clean their brains to be able to react to positive things more often.

Number 7:

You see what you are thinking about. All of your thoughts turn into life experiences. For example, if you dream about a trip to Northern areas you'll see reminders of this location everywhere. Your brain will pay attention to all of these small signs. Do you want to change the world around you? CHANGE YOUR THINKING..!

Number 6:

Your brain needs training. The brain is no different from muscles, it also needs training. Learning, fresh air workouts, healthy eating, sound sleep, traveling, taking notes and cardio are all beneficial for your brain. According to scientists of the University of Pennsylvania, learning a foreign language is the best kind of training. When you study a new language the structure of your brain changes. This method works regardless of gender and age. Therefore, learning a new language might help older people strengthen their brains.

Number 5:

Your brain never rests. We spend about a third of our lives asleep. But even when you sleep your brain continues to work hard. According to studies, its activity during sleep is even higher than during the day. Your brain records everything you see and when you sleep it builds logical chains for each of your own self problems.

Number 4:

Shutting down is vital. From time to time we need to shut ourselves down to give a break to our immune system. Otherwise thousands of negative thoughts and worries will absorb us. Drop everything, close your laptop and let your brain restart. However, lying down on a couch surrounded by snacks isn't a great idea. Active rest is the most useful kind of relaxation for your brain. Take a walk, ride a bicycle or play frisbee for active rest.

Number 3:

Forgetting something you make your nervous system flexible. To save new memories your brain needs to get rid of old ones. It would be nice if we were able to decide what to remember and what to forget. Here is a solution use the information that you want to preserve more often.

Number 2:

Your brain doesn't feel pain. Your brain reacts to pain but it doesn't feel it itself because of the lack of necessary receptors. However, this fact doesn't apply the blood vessels, nerve and tissues that surround your brain.

Number 1:

You can change your brain. Doesn't this sound incredible? Any kind of activity makes your brain generate new neural connections. If you think you are not able to get a promotion, this idea will be locked into your consciousness. But if you keep saying ''I will succeed'', ''I can do it'', your brain will give you an opportunity to realize your goals. In other words, you can achieve absolutely anything. Nothing is impossible for your brain..!
